5 on the 5th

This is the December edition of 5 photos taken on the 5th of the month.

1. I decided to clean my room the other day as it was starting to resemble an episode of Hoarders. Here's a panoramic shot.

2. My collection of colorful underwear.

3. Found these while cleaning my room - old shells that used to belong to my hermit crabs I had years ago.

4. My collection of sleazy porn dvd's.

5. Finally, chilling naked on my bed, doing some writing.

Bonus photo: This is not one I took, but a newspaper cover that made headlines today.

Not sure if anyone heard this story, but a guy got pushed into the subway track, and someone with a camera took this photo seconds before the train killed the guy. The photo taker's reasoning was that he was hoping that the train operator would see the flash of his camera and stop. Personally I think that's a crock of shit, and the time the idiot took to pull out his camera, turn it on, set the flash on, aim and take the picture he could've run to the guy, held out his arm and pulled him out before the train got him. Needless to say I think this photo is pretty damn funny, not in the fact that someone was killed, but in the clueless tastelessness on display. It's bad enough for the idiot photographer to cop to taking this photo, but then for the New York Post to run it as their headline???

World AIDS Day = Dec. 1st

Tomorrow is world AIDS day. Get tested. Know your status. Millions of people worldwide are affected by it. Most importantly, educate yourself about this condition. Yes, i'm talking to YOU! To all the naive homos who want to pretend that it doesn't exist and ignore it, get your heads out of your asses and wake up, because unless you plan on keeping your dick in your pants it will affect you. So to all the sluts out there who pick up men from bars, bathhouses, apps like Grindr, Scruff, internet chat rooms, craigslist ads, be aware that AIDS and hiv does affect you. According to statistics, 1 in 5 people who are infected with it don't even know they have it, so that hot guy that your drunken horny butt has taken home may very well be poz and might not even know it. And finally, don't be afraid of poz people. You aren't any better than them, and the only difference between what they did and what you did is that they caught the bug and you haven't. So educate yourself, and remember, we're all in this together. Ok, that's my public service announcement for the day. Have a nice day.  ;-)

3. Had some sushi for lunch today, including this seaweed salad.

4. On my way out to the gym this morning I found this on the ground near my parking lot. Nice to know the neighbors are practicing safe sex.

7 Questions About Dating Apps

I stoled this from someone else's blog.

1. What dating apps do you have downloaded on your phone?
I have Scruff and Growlr.

2. Do you think it's possible to find love on those apps?
It's doubtful. Why they're called dating apps is kinda funny to me, as they seem to be more for chatting and hook-ups.

3. Have you ever met anyone from those apps?
Yes I have.

4. What things about those apps do you most like?
It might allow you to talk with someone you might not normally talk with or get the chance to meet. If you're planning on visiting another town you can chat with guys who live there and get recommendations for good places to visit, eat, check out, etc.

5. What things about those apps do you most dislike?
There's lots of idiots on those apps. For instance there's the ones who post shirtless, slutty suggestive pictures then insist they don't do hook-ups. If that's the case then put your damn clothes back on. Another lame thing is men on Growlr who say they're not into bears. It's an app made for bears, so if you're not into them then why the hell are you on there? And finally, there seems to be a growing trend among hiv negative men who put stuff like [-] on their profile name. I know that many poz men will put [+] to let others know they're poz status, but I find it pretty damn offensive for negative men to brag about their negative status. Being poz still carries a lot of stigma, and for a poz guy to disclose his status takes a lot of guts, so for a negative guy to wear his status like a badge seems kind of insulting to poz men who have to deal with others' ignorance just to be accepted.

6. Do you think apps have replaced meeting people in bars?
I think they have. Why bother spending money on buying someone drinks and mindless chatter if you just want to get laid? I know not everyone is on these apps for that, but for those who are it allows them to just get to the point and skip all the "getting to know you" stuff. And these days when you go into bars most men seem to browsing on their phones anyway, oblivious of the cute guy sitting 2 bar stools away from them that might be interested in them.

7. Have you made any significant connections from any of those apps?
I've actually made some friends from those apps, which seems to be surprising to me. Not all men are one-track minded douchebags it seems. There are some decent dudes still out there.

5 on the 5th

5 random photos on the 5th of the month.

1. I like the photo for October on my little Domo calendar.

2. October is Halloween month, which means I can buy cool stuff like this.

3. The little dot that the arrow is pointing at... that's the star Izar.

4. Sitting outside my front door, pondering many things.

5. My dinner = sausage ravioli with pesto sauce.

Questions about my smartphone

I stole this from someone's blog.

1. What kind of smartphone do you have?
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket. I love it!

2. Necessity, accessory, or my right arm?
Honestly it's become like my right arm. I use it for texting, phone calls, looking things up online, directions, weather reports, taking photos, and answering any random questions that may pop up and are Google-able.

3. Top three favorite apps?
Right now my 3 favorite apps are Google Skymap, which allows me to see constellations and identify stars and planets, Pandora which allows me to have music whenever I want, and Shazam, which allows me to identify a song I hear on the radio, in a store, etc, and eliminates waiting for the DJ to state what it is or asking someone what they're playing.

4. How much do you use your smartphone for calling, texting and data (email, games, movies)?
I use it daily to check my e-mail, text and look things up. I'm not a big phone talker but sometimes it's best to call for important information. I'm a big fan of texting; it's a less intrusive way to contact someone fast.

5. Phone sex? Sextxting? Hookup apps?
Hehe... I do have Scruff and Growlr apps on my phone, and i'd be lying if I said I haven't gotten a few "dates" off those apps. In fact as recently as Monday some dude hit me up on Growlr and due to the fact that he was cute and straightforward he got what he wanted. :-) Texting is also great to contact your FWB's to see when they're available or for them to contact you, and since I get e-mail notifications on my phone I usually don't miss out on e-mails from buds who want to play.

6. Has your smartphone replaced your camera?
Pretty much. I have an old camera that's probably in a box somewhere collecting dust. My phone has a nice camera that takes great photos so it's basically my main camera.

Bonus Question
It's 3 am. You're in trouble. What's the trouble and who do you call?
I found this question odd and not sure how it relates to the rest of the questions, but the trouble would most likely be I got stranded due to car problems, or some medical condition, and i'd call my best gal pal Tamara who's like my sister. Or AAA if it's a car issue.

yoga, straightforwardness and the undead

Yesterday I attended my first yoga class. It was pretty challenging but at the same time very cool. I can see how people get in shape doing yoga because it really causes you to stretch and use all the muscles of your body. I figure at my age my body could use all the help I could give it. I do plan on sticking with it as I can tell it will be beneficial to me.

A fellow blogging buddy of mine posted recently about sex and being straightforward about asking for it. I have found that guys that are straightfoward with me usually get what they want (provided I think they're attractive and all). On Monday I was sitting on my front doorstep, listening to the new Presets album while doing some web browsing on my phone, when I got messaged by one such guy who asked if I was game for coming over and having sex. I said "sure, why not?" and as a result of his direct approach he got to enjoy a nice blowjob and rimjob from me. Hehe.

Tonight i'm hanging out with a friend and we're going to attend another zombie event in my town. I got lots of zombie make-up left over from the last event so i'll be using it to zombify myself up. It should be a fun time. I really enjoy being a zombie. Something about being a rotting, undead corpse is appealing to me. Hehe....

Folsom Street Fair 2012

Sunday I attended the annual Folsom Street Fair in SF. It was the usual assortment of naked men, leather, jockstrap, shennanigans. I was supposed to catch Ladyhawke's performance, but I got a bit tipsy and missed the show. After the fair my friend and I went to a local bar that was hosting a bear dance party and spent the rest of the evening dancing. Fun times. Here's some pics.

Zombie-O-Rama!

This last Friday I attended the yearly Zombie-O-Rama in my town. It's a fun event where people go dressed like zombies, they have vendors and stands selling food and merchandise, make-up artists doing zombie make-up, many businesses around the area have discounted meal and drink specials for those dressed like zombies, they had a zombie fashion show, zombie costume contest, and when the sun goes down they show a movie outside on a huge screen. This year's selection was Shaun Of The Dead. I went dressed like a geek zombie, with my glasses, suspenders, bowtie and a pencil sticking through my head. It was a lot of fun and I must've had about 150 people take my picture. Here are some photos from the event.

And here I am having a mocha at an Italian coffee shop.

With a creepy clown display.

It was a zombie good time. Hehe!

5 on the 25th

Normally I post 5 random photos on the 5th of the month, but I took quite a few random photos today, so i'm going to cheat and post them today.

1. Dude in Starbucks with interesting tats on his calves. The one on the left looks like it might be symbolizing gay equality?

2. Keeping with the Starbucks theme, many months ago I stopped at a Starbucks to get me some coffee and found this little pink bear laying in the parking lot. I picked it up and it's been sitting in my car ever since.

3. A pair of shot glasses I bought earlier today, pink Dia De Los Muertos theme and a bigger Domo double shot.

4. Yesterday I found a figure i've been wanting for many years but it has always eluded me until now. It's the plant hybrid monster Biollante from the Godzilla film series. The monster was created when a scientist fused Godzilla cells with a rose plant, creating this monster. This particular toy figure is known to collectors as "The Stump" due to it's flat stump-like bottom.

5. One of my favorite stores Tilly's was having an online sale last week, so I ordered a few t-shirts and they came in the mail today. This was one of them, a psychedelic zombie design.

Speaking of zombies, next Friday is Zombie-O-Rama, and I plan on attending, dressed like a geek zombie. I got my geek glasses, white shirt (which i'm planning on adding rips and blood to), bowtie and suspenders to complete the look. This week i'm gonna be on the look out for some thick pencils to glue to my face to make it look like I got stabbed with them. Can't wait!
